Robert Moore is a multi-award winning artist whose paintings reflect his deep love and appreciation for nature's endless beauty. Whether painting wild groves of Aspen, rugged mountain peaks, or the beautiful farmlands near the Snake River where he grew up and still lives, his distinctive combination of brush and palette knife coupled with heavy surface texture and high key colors bring forth a passion and energy to every canvas. A plein air purist, he works on location to best capture the immediate impression of each subject.
Following years of artistic training and experimentation, Gary Ernest Smith’s subject matter is based on his background of a rural life-style that celebrates the values of hard work and self-reliance. These aspects of Smith's life are the catalyst for his distinctive style. Living in the west, his work is primarily of that region, but it is not western in the traditional sense. Although it defies precise classification, the artist considers his style "minimal" and seeks to express the essence and simplicity of each subject. Whatever the focus might be, his work expresses the artistic elements of bold form and color. These two components become the vehicle that melds the style and subject into a symbolic visual language, expanding the artistic appeal beyond the west to captivate the attention of a sophisticated urban audience.
An aspiring artist from an early age, it was Robert Duncan’s childhood summers on his grandfather’s ten thousand acre Wyoming cattle ranch that would deeply instill in him a love of nature and rural life that continues to be the central focus of his life and art today.
Duncan first made his mark in the art world as an award winning member of the Cowboy Artists of America, particularly known for his paintings of the Ute, Crow and Blackfeet tribes. With this latest body of work, Robert is able to show the viewer the similarity he sees in the lives of farmers and ranch people who share the same common bond as the Native Americans with the environment and Mother Nature.
The gallery is pleased to present the 3rd annual Masters in Miniature Invitational show.
