Press release

Trailside Galleries is pleased to announce Sueellen Ross: Pet Projects, a show of new mixed media works by the Seattle based painter.  All works will be sold by draw on September 15, 2018.

A full-time artist since 1980, Sueellen Ross has devoted her career to producing exquisitely detailed mixed-media renderings of the subjects she finds herself most drawn to: the cats, dogs, and birds that surround her at her home in the Pacific Northwest. She combines her passion for producing art with her love for animals to create works of exceptionally strong design and subtle wit.

Ross notes, “Pet Projects" is a collection of my all-time favorite dogs and cats. Some belong to my family, some to close friends, some to me. All have had a huge impact on their owners, and this is my chance to honor them. For Ross, the challenge – always, is to capture the individual look, personality, age, character and style of the animal. This is what she loves to do above everything else as an artist. She adds, “These are mixed-media paintings with lots and lots of drawing in them. First I do a complete graphite pencil drawing then I add India ink as my darkest value. Next I paint with watercolor and finally, I draw with colored pencil. I figured out this combination over forty years ago and have been working this way ever since.”

Sueellen Ross will be available to meet with collectors during the artist reception at the gallery on Saturday September 15 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
